Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography Cardiovascular CT for Technologists Advanced Cardiovascular CT Course 2022

Format: 1 video, size: 6.05 GB

Course Audience: cardiologist, radiologist

Overview:

This technologist-specific education consists of programming planned by technologists, for technologists. This 3-hour symposium and will elevate your level of cardiac CT knowledge. This course will encompass all aspects of the exam including discussions about appropriate use of cardiac medications, IV contrast and scan protocol parameters per exam indications. We will also provide tools to obtain high-quality exams on difficult-to-image patients such as those with anomalies.

* Detail:

Session 1: Coronary CTA and imaging variations

Led by: William Mayes III, RT (R)(CT) & Nikkole Weber, RT (R)(CT)(M), CSCCT

Coronary Calcification Scoring and Coronary CTA are the basic protocols every CVCT technologist should know how to scan. In this session, we expand our knowledge to include advanced variations that will allow for imaging of the coronary arteries without cardiac medications to slow the heartrate. Attendees will also learn how a protocol can be adapted to include imaging of other anatomical structures of the heart and chest as well as the coronary arteries is necessary

Session 2: CT Imaging of Cardiac Valves for Pre-op Planning and Post-op Evaluation

Led by: Chun Fox, RT (R)(CT)(ARRT), CSCCT & Christina Fuss, MD, PhD, FSCCT

Cardiac CT imaging is used in the planning and post-op care of less invasive and robotic replacements and repairs of the heart valves. This session is led by a physician and a technologist who will explain the need for imaging protocols that are specific to this task and how they differ from a coronary CTA protocol. Information will include suggestions for changes in technique, IV contrast and cardiac medications.

Session 3: Heart Structure and Morphology

Led by: Nikkole Weber, RT (R)(CT)(M), CSCCT & Clint Jokerst, MD

In this session a radiologist and a technologist will show CT images that help demonstrate to attendees how changing scanning parameters and IV contrast amounts and rates from a routine coronary CTA scan can demonstrate the other structures in and around the heart. These protocols can also produce images that can be used to evaluate function and morphology.
