It is indeed our great honour and privilege to welcome you to attend the International Conference for Initiatives on Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation, which will be an interactive conference and exhibition for three days November 7–9, 2022, in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, UAE. The Hybrid Conference is endorsed by the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi, Dubai Health Authority and Ministry of Health and Prevention UAE.

Organ donation and transplantation is one of the medical miracles of the twentieth century that prolonged the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients around the world. It is however not only a lifesaving therapy but also a shining symbol of human solidarity, tolerance and coexistence due to the countless acts of generosity by organ donors and their families. This great human gift of life needs to be protected from many unethical practices by building sustainable national organ donation and transplantation programs and by establishing international collaborations and sharing expertise and resources. Given the Global organ and tissue shortage, the Conference aims to bring together organ and tissue donation and transplantation programs and other stakeholders from across the world to come up with collaborative initiatives that will have a positive impact on enhancing organ and tissue donation and transplantation rates while also supporting the implementation of innovative solutions to prevent organ failure. Best practices and activities of various nations in promoting organ and tissue donation and transplantation will be highlighted hand in hand with highlights about best international practices for adoption of healthy lifestyle that supports prevention of organ failure especially from modifiable chronic disease risk factors. Many themes will be covered to help explore synergies between multiple transplant programs such as paired kidney donation exchange and organ and tissue sharing between countries. We aim to have state-of-the-art lectures, plenaries, parallel specialty meetings to stimulate deep discussions on all important aspects including role of governments, health system finance & charities, health regulators, healthcare systems, academia and community about the latest developments in the fields across our region and internationally to come up with as many as possible well defined ‘initiatives’ that can be implemented save and improve people’s lives locally and globally.
