Introduction to Gynecological Ultrasound





Introduction to Gynecological Ultrasound Online Course is designed to increase knowledge/competence to better perform and/or interpret gynecological sonography. The course is designed as a self–directed GYN ultrasound resource for CME credit fulfillment in a modular format and includes online video lectures, case presentations, and online quizzes. There are three (3) core modules to this course. Enrollment is valid for 12 months (365 days) and begins the moment the participant is enrolled. Extend your online course access another 3 months with the addition of an onsite hands-on workshop or registration for a regularly scheduled GCUS scan workshop



OBJECTIVES




  • Outline the interaction of sound with soft-tissue and other mediums.

  • Demonstrate the relationship between system controls and image quality.

  • Identify different types of imaging artifacts.

  • Increase knowledge/competence to better perform and/or interpret gynecological ultrasound examinations.

  • List the differences between Transabdominal and Transvaginal scanning.

  • Recognize the female reproductive anatomy.

  • Perform the gynecologic exam transvaginal protocol.

  • Identify the sonographic appearance of normal Gynecologic anatomy.

  • Recognize the sonographic anatomic variants of uterine position.

  • Increase knowledge/competence to better perform and/or interpret gynecological pathology.

  • Differentiate normal and abnormal sonographic findings in the female pelvis.

  • Recognize the sonographic appearances of the more common pelvic pathology.

  • Differentiate benign from malignant cervical pathology.

  • List the causes of uterine enlargement.

  • Identify the sonographic appearance of a uterine polyp.


AUDIENCE


Sonographers, physicians, nurse practitioners, PA’s and other medical professionals involved with performing gynecological ultrasound examinations. Physicians may include (but are not limited to): OB-GYN, family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, and radiology.
