Overview:

Pediatric neurogastroenterology and motility is a branch of pediatric medicine that aims to restore nutritional status and improve bowel function in children with chronic intestinal problems. Severe intestinal disorders require a multidisciplinary approach to evaluate and treat, these include:

• Anorectal malformations

• Chronic nausea and vomiting

• Esophageal motility disorders

• Gastroparesis

• Hirschsprung’s disease

• Intestinal atresia

• Intestinal neuronal dysplasia

• Intractable constipation

• Irritable bowel syndrome and abdominal pain

• Radiation enteritis

PNM2021 is the first ever pediatric-focused meeting in pediatric neurogastroenterology and motility. The meeting is a multi- and interdisciplinary platform involving professionals, drawing across multiple specialties, involving the care of children suffering from gastrointestinal and nutritional conditions specifically with gastrointestinal functional and motility disorders. The meeting offered an exceptional chance to present latest research in pediatric neurogastroenterology and facilitated discussion and interaction with active researchers and clinicians from across the globe.

The aim of this Research Topic is to collate quality papers in the field of pediatric neurogastroenterology and motility, as those presented at the PNM2021. By sharing information and discussing progress in our collective understanding of Pediatric neurogastroenterology and motility, together with world’s leading investigators in the field, we hope that this meeting will inspire new collaborations and novel research and treatment initiatives.
