Overview
The last few years have seen tremendous advances in the management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. New medical therapies, personalized medicine, genetically-based treatments, and technological advances are changing how we diagnose and treat our patients. The rapid change in medical therapies, drug delivery, and endoscopic interventions has led to a knowledge gap in how we now approach and treat many of our patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases. As a result, guidelines recommending best management practices continue to evolve. The conference will focus on updating standards of practice in the community. The conference will also focus on the obesity epidemic and how it impacts the daily practice of gastroenterology and liver disease and will provide an update cancer screening guidelines. The purpose of this conference is to bring the latest advances in these new diagnostic and therapeutics to the provider who works in community practice.
Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Integrate the newest therapies for patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
- Identify GI and liver complications of obesity and how to manage them.
- Assess patients at risk for GI and liver cancer and improve techniques for screening.
- Identify patients whose symptoms are a result of dysmotility and provide them with up-to-date therapies.
