LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After viewing this program, participants will be better able to:
- Identify the factors that promote oral conditions such as dental caries and gingival diseases
- Identify pathologic conditions in the child patient
- Apply safe radiation practices to the diagnosis of oral conditions
- Practice preventive oral health interventions
- Distinguish between and apply therapeutic options for increasingly invasive carious lesions in primary and young permanent teeth
- Distinguish between and apply therapeutic options for increasingly extensive traumatic injuries to the primary and permanent teeth
- Formulate and perform age-appropriate basic and advanced behavior guidance techniques
- Diagnose and manage problems of orthodontic and orthopedic origin in the growing child
- Manage oral heath interventions for patients with special health care needs
- Recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect
This educational activity was designed for pediatric dentist preparing for the written board examination and the general dentist wanting to enhance didactic knowledge in topics relevant to the care of the child patient.
