Association for Pathology Informatics Virtual Summit 2021

Format:34 videos, size: 5.6 GB

Course Audience: pathologist

Overview:

The Association for Pathology Informatics (API) held a Virtual Digital Pathology and AI Workshop from November 3 – 5, 2021. This was a 3-day virtual workshop, with each daily session lasting 5 hours. The workshop emphasized the practical considerations for digital pathology and AI relevant to the participants’ home practices.

The workshop included a total of twelve 30-minute lectures by national and international experts, punctuated by 15 minutes of audience engagement with Q&A sessions. There was also a virtual tour of the digital pathology labs at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

The learning objectives for all participants included understanding the directions for digital pathology and AI from a domestic U.S. and international perspective, given the advances in technology, market shifts, regulatory changes, and transformation in pathology culture. They also aimed to understand the deployment of digital pathology for their home practices, including operational considerations for remote sign-out, optimization of surgical pathology workflows, and information system integration.

By the end of the workshop, participants were expected to be able to assess their own laboratory and/or pathology practice’s readiness to implement artificial intelligence, including evaluating and implementing the different digital pathology and AI solutions on the market. They were also expected to be able to create the proper business case for digital pathology and AI for their own laboratory/practice, with the ultimate goal of applying this knowledge in order to stand up a digital pathology enabled laboratory at their own sites.
